1942 Willys jeep original engine in running condition
Hi Anjan this is not a 1942. In 1942 the MB style lamps were used untill1945 when the CJ2A came out and later the CJ3A. This is a not even a 1945-46 CJ2A as a 2A would have column shift gears until 1945-46 and a one piece windscreen.

Also is missing all the original and hard to find fittings like the meters, the data plate, the headlight rings etc.

The MB style ax and shovel indents should be under the driver’s doorway and not on the Civilain side.

This is probably a post 1947 onwards, CJ3A. being passed off for a 1942 Jeep.

Many more differences but i think this is enough to establish that the Jeep in question is not what it claims to be.

I agree with Gogi that it is a later Civilian Jeep.
Going by the details visible in the photos it seems to be a CJ2A of late 1946 or 1947 vintage.

Cheers

Hi and Thanks Gogibhai, I remember you had pointed out the observations earlier too, when I had posted a few pictures of this jeep here on teambhp.
I have posted the details seeking information from the seller and relying upon him.
I am sure buyers will take cue from Gogibhai's (V-16) observations and then decide about buying the jeep.

My knowledge about the Willys jeeps is from the CJ3B onwards.
Do also remember to update us about your Fiat Elegant restoration.

Most probably this car will never be resold and the seller will loose interest and it will eventually go to ground. We have seen so many cars deteriorate as the seller refuses to reduce the price and eventually the car is scrapped

In the old days owners were selling their cars and they always wanted the car to go to a good home where it will be maintained. Price was secondary

Today brokers are trying for opportunistic sales. The golden rule in any Used Car business is that the seller makes money on the price he buys the car and not the prices he sells it at.

The seller has high hopes

He is " A Shana " in the ol Bombay words.

What basis is he quoting that figure.

Well good luck to him with that.

+1 on that.

Its due to them (the honorable brokers) that many cars have never seen the light of the day and many of them never will in future.

Has it occured to anyone that the car in the pic is not a Ford Windstar, but a first gen Ford Zephyr?

i think the selling price is the sellers prerogative. I am sure there are deals that have been struck close to those quoted prices and t4 the seller has the balls to quote such an exoribtant price. Its a case of a skewed demand supply ratio. So long as the classics are well taken care of, i guess thats pretty OK.
