GOOD to see this benz again in restored condition.I have seen this fintailed Mercedes years back when I was working in Thiruvananthapuram
IIRC it was a dieselised with a Toyota Diesel engine.

New upholstery, Re-painted to German Red (Matched original color), Replaced the rotten floorpans, sills, suspension mounts and heater channels. as well as fitting a new fuel tank , fixed the Engine. Has new battery and tires.

Side beading and hub caps needs to be fixed.(Under progress).

Sankar, I think your assumption is not correct.Those advertisements seems to be put in by dealers/restorers who have a habit of quoting unrealistic prices.Most of these cars will either remain unsold and even if they get sold it may be at a huge discount which many of us may never be privy to.
Look at this advertisement for a lhd super beetle from kerala.

It has remained unsold for months after being acquired by a dealer from the original owner at a reasonable price the reason is obvious
