I was going through this PDF detailing RR success stories: Link. and came across a very interesting story:

Bombay-Kholapar Trial (620 miles). Annual reliability Test of the Motor Union of Western India, February 1908. - Class V. Won by the 40-50 h.p. six-cylinder Rolls-Royce known as “The Pearl of the East,” which covered the whole distance without an involuntary stop. The car used onlt ¾-gallon of oil for the 620 miles, which included climbing six mountain passes (The Ghats), having a total rise of 5,000 feet. No tools or spares were carried, and the bonnet was locked throughout the trial, the keys being carried by the observer.

And another one:

The Rolls-Royce in India.
In addition to being the winner of its class in the Bombay Trials, the six-cylinder Rolls-Royce was declared joint winner of the Mysore Cup. This car has also, in India, secured a Silver Cup, Two Gold Medals, and two Diplomas, and was awarded first Prize for appearance at the Bombay Motor Show 1908.

The car was the first R-R in India (at least officially) - Chassis 60576, Cockshoot Limo. Later bought by Gwalior

It is the third car below, Silver Ghost Cabriolet de Ville Chassis 29-ED which was owned by the Maharaja of Kalsia.

I will not be going to the meeting on April 7 as that is a nothing meeting for legal requirements. I do intend to make the June meet.

As for the name class of the car, the car is obviously quite unique, whatever you choose to call it. I have detail pictures of some parts, but will be making more of the inside when I visit and test drive the car on April 3. I include a picture of the engine after overhaul in the car, but not completely installed, which I took at the end of last month. The engine compartment is completely redone and it looks super, IMO, almost new looking.

I have some awful windows made from wood and plastic (the original are lost), and would like to make new ones for it. Does anyone have good pictures of the windows or similar ones that I can use as a pattern?

I also have pictures of the car being used in anti-war parades if that would be allowed on this forum. I had special static stickers and plaques made for it and I wear a costume. Let me know if you want to see them. I am quite controversial about the wars and September 11. The car appeared on Penn & Teller's Bull**** where they tried to tear me apart but succeeded in showing their own rears instead. At any rate, I do not wish to introduce politics here, but I have the pictures if people think it appropriate.

Don't think I have seen this advertisement on the forum. Quite an interesting one at that.

Rolls Royce established their Kashmere Gate dealership in 1919 / 1920 in order to make it convenient for customers from the north to be able to get their cars serviced:

Seen this Rolls Royce being driven through Peddar Road today. Can someone identify the model? Is it the same car as in this post? The fender lights and the headlights look different - but the body line and the bonnet vents (?) match the car.

The silver car you spotted is a R-R 20 H.P.; chassis GPK6; ex-Banswara. It was previously registered RJB-9.

The car in the magazine picture below it is a Phantom I (unknown ID).

Thanks for the clarification travancore. I guessed as much this was earlier registered as RJB 9, but wasnt very sure - had seen pics of this car long back in Auto India - and also personally at the RR Centenary Celebrations. Its a 1923 Rolls Royce Barker Tourer.

It was lying very few years ago in Indore where this photo was taken. It is a royal car, which state I forgot. Hint: that compound had a few Caddys and MG TC's.

I think the PII is 22UK. The original owner was the 22nd Raja of Ramgarh, Kamakhya Narain Singh (1916-1970).

If you watch the documentary carefully, there is a fleeting shot of the Chassis Plate - showing what certainly looks like 22UK (Thrupp & Maberly Limousine).

This is a well known photograph - however, the chassis number seems to be unconfirmed even by the experts.

My own thought is that it is Silver Ghost Chassis 52CW, Barker Tourer.
