My only experience with an American car, was a Chevrolet Impala 1958 model, belonging to my school best friend Michael Hartman. It was a dream to be driven in that car. Such soft smooth suspension, and best of all, IT HAD AIR CONDITIONING !! Heavenly! Well ahead of it's time.

Was driven in that car dozens of times. Mr. Hartman was part of a German team that built India's first jet fighter, the HF 24, later renamed Maruthi. It was built at HAL.

The picture is from Bangalore. On Church Street, junction of rest house road. Just behind Plaza Cinema.

A friend sent pics of his grandfathers Chevrolet, which Karl helped me in identifying as a '51/'52 Styline Deluxe.

Would be great to know if this survives or any other pictures of this later in time.
