Thanks buddy . Yup i asked about the steering rattle thing and they said it has now been sorted out by hyundai. There is not a single issue related to it since the face lifted i20 is launched .

No freebies. Except that they put some nice green ribbons on the car. The sales process was seamless.

Why Nano?: The car is for my father who is a big Fiat Fan. He has a Fiat Padmini 1985 and Fiat Uno. Both cars are without power steering and he finds it difficult to drive. He wanted a car that can be parked in market and yet give space for shopping.

Why Figo?
ZEN is my wife’s first car and she’s been using it for 3 years now. For some time now, I have been trying to convince my wife that the ZEN she drives has aged and needs replacement. Her criterion of a good car are (a) good view from driving seat preferably low dashboard to get good visibility (b) sporty and good look (c) Power (d) Less hassles with service (e) comfortable rear seat for our kids. My only condition was DIESEL engine.

Her first preference was a Scorpio and still is but considering it would be used for city with traffic and parking issues, we gave up the thought.

Zen Estilo, A-Star : Failed on looks department. Did not even TD it.
i10 – Okay but not impressive.
Punto– Dashboard too high, rear visibility is low. Diesel not impressive in city driving
Polo – Her friend own one, so NO

About Figo: We liked the service offered by the dealer. In late evening we went to check out the Figo and could not manage the TD. Next day they drove all the way to our residence for the TD. Liked the car and next day went for the booking. We rationalize the Diesel choice with Rs. 1 lakhs addition cost as below. The decision however was more of liking than economics.
Assuming we sell the car after 3 years of use
Interest cost on Rs. 1 lakhs for 3 years @ 10% = Rs. 30,000
Depreciation on the additional 1 lakhs = Rs 35,000 ( assuming when we sell the car it will fetch us Rs. 65,000 more than petrol figo
Total incremental cost = Rs. 65,000
Rs/Km : Petrol (@ 15 kms/Lt) = 59/15 = Rs 3.9; Diesel (@ 18 kms/Lt) = 45/18= 2.5 ; Saving/kms on Diesel = 1.4
Break even = 65000/1.4 = 46 K kms that is about 15,000 kms per year.

Today, I am planning to clear all the docs required for Insurance. Tomorrow planning for a 'Dekho' of the car, if possible. Hope the 'Jugad' works for seeing the car. Also need to get the Affidavit thing for residence proof done asap. I am only worried about that.
