A test mule of the single cab version of the Mahindra Scorpio pickup truck has been spotted testing on the Hyderabad-Bangalore highway.

At present, Mahindra has the Scorpio Getaway, which is a double cab pickup truck on sale in the Indian market. In terms of design, the single cab variant is based on the third-generation Scorpio. The front gets a dual barrel headlamp setup, a redesigned bumper and a tweaked bonnet. The tail lights used on the spotted model are from the older model, and not the clear lens units found on the third-gen Scorpio.

The interiors of the single cab pickup are likely to be carried over from the Scorpio as well and under the skin, the pickup is expected to get a reworked chassis and suspension like its SUV sibling.

It may be recalled that the double cab version of the third-generation Scorpio was spotted testing last year. Therefore, it is likely that Mahindra will launch the new Scorpio Getaway in the single as well as double cab variants at the same time.

The new Getaway pickup is likely to be powered by the BS-IV compliant mHawk 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that produces 120 BHP and 280 Nm of torque. However, there are rumours that the vehicle could get the mHawk engine from the XUV 500, which makes 140 BHP.
