2016 Volkswagen Vento facelift spotted testing

Volkswagen is likely to give the Vento sedan some updates in 2016. A test mule of the car has been spotted.

Images suggest that the Vento gets new headlamp clusters. These units have a smoked effect and U-shaped daytime running lights. The rest of the car is identical to the facelifted version that was launched in 2015.

On the mechanical front, the refreshed Vento is likely to use the same engines and transmissions as the current model. At present, the car is available with a choice of three engines:

  • 1,598cc, 4-cylinder petrol, 103 BHP @ 5,250 rpm, 153 Nm @ 3,800 rpm; 5-speed manual transmission
  • 1,197cc, 4-cylinder, turbocharged petrol, 103 BHP @ 5,000 rpm, 175 Nm @ 1,500-4,100 rpm; 7-speed DSG automatic transmission
  • 1,498cc, 4-cylinder, turbocharged diesel, 103 BHP @ 4,400 rpm, 250 Nm @ 1,500-2,500 rpm; 5-speed manual / 7-speed DGS automatic transmission

The Vento is positioned in the C2 segment, which is dominated by the Honda City and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz.
