AC Cobra to get an entry-level 2.0L 4-cylinder engine soon

he new 4-cylinder engine on the AC Cobra GT will be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a DCT gearbox.

According to reports, the AC Cobra GT Roadster & Coupe will get a new engine option from 2026.

The current AC Cobra GT range is offered with a 5.0-litre Ford Coyote V8 in naturally-aspirated & supercharged forms. However, from 2026 the models will get a new entry-level engine option in the form of a "performance-oriented" 2.0-litre 4-cylinder unit.

AC though hasn't revealed any details of the upcoming 4-cylinder engine. Although reports do suggest it could come in the form of a turbocharged petrol engine producing around 395 BHP. The new 4-cylinder engine on the AC Cobra GT will be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a DCT gearbox.

David Conza, AC Cars CEO, said: “This is a key step in our programme of growth, yet allows us to stay true to what defines us. Offering clients a wider choice of performance engines will broaden the appeal for our exclusive sports cars, and means we can reach the markets that impose higher taxation of large displacement engines.”

AC will reveal the full specs of the 2.0-litre Cobra GT sometime in Spring 2025. Reservations for the entry-level Cobra GT are also now open.
