The achingly beautiful Peugeot e-Legend Concept

Peugeot has displayed the e-Legend Concept - an all-electric car with autonomous driving capability at the 2018 Paris Motor Show.

The retro-styled e-Legend takes design cues from the 504 Coupe, which was on sale in the 1960s. It has a muscular shape and measures 4,650 mm in length, 1,930 mm in width and 1,370 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,690 mm. It rides on 19-inch wheels shod with Michelin tyres.

The interiors of the e-Legend feature an angular steering wheel and 16 screens of different sizes. The car is equipped with a voice-activated personal assistant suitable for autonomous driving. Using voice commands, the driver can change the driving style, listen to music, or even open and close the electrified doors of the vehicle. The system includes 17 languages.

To power the e-Legend, Peugeot has used an electric motor and 100 kWh batteries. The car produces 456 BHP and 800 Nm of torque and uses a four-wheel drive system. Peugeot claims a 0-100 km/h time of less than 4 seconds and a maximum speed of 220 km/h for the e-Legend. The car's range is claimed to be 600 km and a fast recharge function is claimed to give it a range of 500 km in 25 minutes.

The e-Legend comes with four driving modes, out of which, two are manual and two are autonomous. The manual modes include legend and boost. The former is a cruising mode with three 504 Coupe-like dials and a display of digitally-processed wood on the different screens. In the latter, the car becomes more dynamic to drive and comes with a projection of the road on a single large screen.

The autonomous modes include soft and sharp. The former favours the comfort of the occupants and the projection on digital material screens and information displayed is reduced to a minimum. In sharp mode, maximum connections to digital activities (social networks, schedule, etc.) are possible.

Peugeot has not revealed any plan of making a production version of the e-Legend.
