All-electric Skoda Octavia in the works

The electric Skoda Octavia is expected to arrive by the end of the decade.

According to a media report, Skoda is said to be developing an all-electric version of the Octavia for the global market.

The all-electric Octavia is said to help bolster Skoda's future EV line-up, which will also consist of a seven-seater SUV (Concept 7S), an Urban EV, a crossover and a mini-SUV (Fabia replacement). The electric Octavia is part of Skoda's future plans, which aim to have 70% of the company's overall sales come from EVs by 2030.

Skoda CEO, Klaus Zellmer, also didn't rule out the possibility of the electric Octavia being offered alongside its internal combustion engine (ICE) & hybrid versions. He stated that with the Octavia being such a popular car and having a huge customer base, Skoda will keep the family for as long as it can.

Reports state that in such a case, the ICE & hybrid versions could continue to be underpinned by the current platform, while the electric Octavia would adopt VW Group's SSP architecture, due to arrive in 2025.

The electric Skoda Octavia is expected to arrive by the end of the decade. It is expected to use an advanced version of the brand's 89 kWh battery, which could offer a range of more than 370 miles (595 km). The EV could also come with up to 200 kW of fast charging capabilities. The battery is expected to power either two motors (standard variant) or four motors (sportier vRS variant).
