Aprilia SR 150 priced at Rs. 65,000, launching next month

Aprilia has announced the prices of their first scooter in the Indian market, the SR 150, which starts at Rs. 65,000 (ex-showroom). Though prices have been announced, the official Aprilia SR 150 launch in India will take place in August, 2016.

The Aprilia SR 150 marked its Indian debut at this year's Delhi Auto Expo in February. The company claims that their new product is a combination of the sportiness of a bike and ease of a scooter. To keep the price aggressive, Aprilia will be locally manufacturing the SR 150 at Piaggio's India plant in Baramati, Maharashtra.

The Aprilia SR 150 borrows the single cylinder, 4-stroke, 150 cc engine from its Vespa badged siblings. This engine will develop around 11.5 BHP.

At the stated price tag, the SR 150 has been placed close to the Honda Activa 125 Deluxe variant. It will thus be interesting to see how the new Aprilia scooter performs with respect to other competitors as well as its costlier Vespa siblings.
