Aprilia SR 150 production begins at Piaggio's Baramati plant

Production of the Aprilia SR 150 has officially begun from August 10, 2016 at Piaggio's manufacturing plant in Baramati, Maharashtra. The SR 150 was originally showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo and Aprilia recently announced the SR 150 price at Rs. 65,000 (ex-showroom).

Aprilia is marketing the SR 150 as a 'crossover bike', as the company claims that their new offering is a combination of looks of a sports bike and the convenience of a gearless scooter. It is currently the most affordable Aprilia product on offer, and is the only vehicle in the manufacturer's portfolio to be produced in India.

The SR 150 is powered by a single cylinder, 4-stroke, 150 cc engine that develops 11.4 BHP @ 7,000 rpm and 11.5 Nm of torque @ 5,500 rpm. The power mill is mated to a CVT gearbox. This is the same engine that powers its Vespa siblings, the SXL 150 and VXL 150.

The Aprilia SR 150 will be offered in a choice of two colours: matte black and white. Deliveries of the SR 150 will start from this month, and it will be available at Piaggio's dealerships all across the country, as well as the MotoPlex multi-brand outlets in Pune, Chennai, Kochi and Hyderabad. Customers have also been given the option to pre-book the SR 150 through e-commerce portal - Paytm.
