Ashok Leyland to set up new EV manufacturing unit

Ashok Leyland is developing electrified versions of the Dost and Bada Dost LCVs.

Ashok Leyland is planning to set up a new manufacturing facility for electric vehicles. The company also plans to invest Rs. 500 crore in alternative fuel technologies.

The Hinduja Group owned CV brand is also setting up a manufacturing facility and R&D centre in Spain, while its Indian unit will be optimized to cater to the changing market requirements.

According to a media report, Ashok Leyland is looking to develop new EVs and powertrains based on CNG and hydrogen for its commercial vehicles.

Ashok Leyland is developing electrified versions of the Dost and Bada Dost LCVs. The project is currently in the prototype stage and production is expected to commence in Q4 2022.
