Auto Expo 2023: Tata Punch CNG & Altroz CNG unveiled

The Punch i-CNG comes equipped with two separate CNG cylinders of 30 litres each.

Tata Motors has unveiled the Punch CNG at the ongoing Auto Expo 2023.

The Punch CNG looks identical to the standard version. However, under the skin, Tata Motors has installed two separate CNG cylinders of 30 litres each. This helps liberate a lot of space in the boot.

The Punch i-CNG will be powered by a 1.2-litre engine. The same engine is available in the Tiago i-CNG and the Tigor i-CNG. It develops 85 BHP and 113 Nm in petrol mode and 72 BHP and 95 Nm when running on CNG. The engine in the Punch is expected to have a similar output.

Tata Motors is also working on an all-electric version of the Punch. It will be based on a modified version of the ALFA platform and will use the company’s Ziptron EV powertrain.

Tata also showcased the Altroz i-CNG at the Auto Expo. The hatchback uses the same 1.2-litre engine as the Punch and is expected to have similar power and torque figures.
