BH series registrations have rolled out in these states & UTs

The BH Series will facilitate the free movement of vehicles between states.

Earlier this year, the Government of India introduced a new pan-India registration series for vehicles called the Bharat Series (BH). It's been three months since the announcement, but only a handful of states and union territories have completed its rollout.

Here's a list of states and union territories that have already rolled out BH registrations:

  • Delhi
  • Rajasthan
  • Orissa
  • Mizoram
  • Maharashtra
  • Goa
  • Chandigarh
  • Pondicherry

It is said that the state of Karnataka is yet to take a decision on the implementation of the BH Series and hasn't committed to a specific timeline.

The BH Series will facilitate the free movement of vehicles between states. Road tax will be levied for 2 years or in multiples of two. After completion of the 14th year, the road tax will be levied annually and it will be half of the amount which was charged earlier for that vehicle.

As per the current system, out-of-state vehicles are only allowed to ply for 12 months. Beyond this, the owner is required to get a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the parent state and get the vehicle re-registered in the new state.
