BMW reveals 5 Series & 6 Series GT facelift

BMW has revealed the updated 5 Series and 6 Series Gran Turismo.

The refreshed 5 Series gets some cosmetic changes. At the front it gets new LED headlights with L-shaped LED daytime running lights and a twin-kidney grille that is slightly larger than before. At the rear, the car gets reworked LED tail lights that have a smoked effect.

On the inside, the updated 5 Series comes with the latest version of the iDrive 7 infotainment system featuring a 12.3-inch touchscreen head-unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The car has a 3-spoke steering wheel and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

In global markets, the 5 Series will be offered with four engine options. The 540i with the 6-cylinder engine now comes with a 48V mild-hybrid system. The 530e plug-in hybrid comes with a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder engine that makes 288 BHP and 420 Nm. The M550i xDrive uses a 4.4-litre, twin-turbo V8 that makes 523 BHP and 723 Nm.

The new 6 Series Gran Turismo gets the same cosmetic changes and updated infotainment system as the 5 Series. All engines now come with a 48V mild-hybrid system. The range of powertrains include 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder and 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder petrol engines as well as a 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder diesel unit in three states of tune. All engines are mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is available as an option.
