BS-VI compliant Mercedes C 220d and C 300d launched

Mercedes-Benz has launched the C-Class facelift in India. The new C-Class comes with BS-VI compliant diesel engines and is available in three variants - C 220 d Progressive, C 220 d Prime and C 300 d AMG Line. Prices start at Rs. 40 lakh (ex-showroom).

The new C-Class gets minor changes on the exterior. These include new front and rear bumpers, LED headlamps and LED tail lamp clusters. The C 300d gets AMG Line exterior package with 18-inch alloy wheels. A new exterior colour called Mojave Silver is available as an option.

On the interior, the new model comes equipped with a 10.25-inch infotainment screen with smartphone integration and a redesigned 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel. The C 220d Progressive gets Brown open-pore walnut wood trim and ambient lighting with 64 colours to choose from. The C 300d AMG Line gets Saddle Brown and Black upholstery options with Anthracite open-pore oak wood trim and a flat-bottom steering wheel.

The C 220d Progressive and Prime are powered by a OM 654 BS-VI compliant 1,950cc, 4-cylinder diesel engine that produces 192 BHP @ 3,800 rpm and 400 Nm of torque @ 1,600-2,800 rpm. The C 300d AMG Line uses the same engine tuned to produce 241 BHP @ 4,200 rpm and 500 Nm of torque @ 1,600-2,400 rpm. All three variants are offered with a 9-speed automatic transmission. Mercedes claims that the C 220d can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and has a top speed of 240 km/h, while the C 300d will reach 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and tops out at 250 km/h.
