Citroen Basalt scores 4 stars in Bharat NCAP crash tests

The SUV Coupe scored 26.19 points for adult occupant safety and 35.90 points for child occupant protection.

Bharat NCAP has awarded the Citroen Basalt a 4-star rating. The SUV Coupe scored 26.19 points for adult occupant safety and 35.90 points for child occupant protection.

According to the crash test report, the Citroen Basalt offered good protection to the head and neck in the frontal offset deformable barrier test. The driver showed marginal protection to the chest and upper leg, while the passenger showed adequate protection to the chest and marginal protection to the upper leg. 

The car offered good protection in the side movable deformable barrier and side pole impact tests for both occupants.

The Citroen Basalt is available with a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 81 BHP and 115 Nm and a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol that puts out 108 BHP and 190 Nm. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, and 6-speed automatic.

The SUV Coupe comes equipped with 6 airbags, ESC, Isofix, seat belt reminders, and 3-point seat belts for all seats. The test vehicle was a top-spec Turbo AT Max variant.
