Ethanol-powered TVS Apache RTR 200 launched at Rs. 1.20 lakh

TVS has launched its first ethanol-powered bike called the Apache RTR 200 Fi E100. It is priced at Rs. 1.20 lakh (ex-showroom) and will be available in the states of Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka.

The Apache RTR 200 Fi E100 is the first bike in India that can run on ethanol only. It is powered by a 200cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that puts out 20.7 BHP @ 8,500 rpm and 18.1 Nm of torque @ 7,000 rpm. It uses twin-spray-twin-port electronic fuel injection and has a claimed top speed of 129 km/h. TVS claims that it offers better driveability, faster throttle response and lower emissions compared to the petrol version.

Ethanol is produced from renewable plant sources. It is non-toxic and biodegradable. It contains 35% oxygen and reduces nitrogen oxide, sulphur dioxide and carbon monoxide emissions as well as particulate matter.
