Fiat is believed to be considering the Argo hatchback for the Indian market. If launched in India, the Argo will replace the Punto in Fiat's portfolio. While no official timelines have been revealed yet, it is rumoured that the Argo might be launched in India by the end of 2018 or early 2019.

The Argo was recently unveiled through a set of official images. It has been designed and developed by Fiat's Brazilian arm and is expected to go on sale in the Latin American markets in the near future. The company has already indicated that the Argo will be sold in some other markets as well.

The Argo gets a more contemporary and edgier design compared to the roundish looks of the current Punto. The front is characterized by large sweptback headlamps, a wide grille and a wide air dam on the bumper. The side profile showcases mildly beefed up wheel arches and a couple of sharp character lines running on the door panels. The rear gets wraparound twin-section tail lamps, boomerang shaped reflectors in the bumper and a diffuser like insert on the lower portion of the bumper.

In Brazil, the Fiat Argo will come with three petrol engine options - 1.0L, 1.3L and 1.5L. Details about the engines likely to be offered in the India-spec model haven't surfaced yet, though it is likely that Fiat will offer both diesel and petrol options.
