Ford EcoSport facelift launched at Rs. 7.31 lakh

Ford has launched the facelifted EcoSport in India at prices starting from Rs. 7.31 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The updated EcoSport is available in 5 variants – Ambiente, Trend, Trend+, Titanium and Titanium+.Β 

The refreshed EcoSport features an updated exterior as well as a new interior. The car is offered in seven exterior colour options - Lightning Blue, Canyon Ridge, Race Red, Diamond White, Absolute Black, Moondust Silver and Smoke Grey. The compact SUV measures 3,998 mm in length, 1,765 mm in width and 1,647 mm in height. It has a wheelbase of 2,519 mm and a luggage capacity of 352 litres, which can be expanded to 1,178 litres by folding the rear seats down. The car has a fuel tank capacity of 52 litres.

As part of the facelift, the EcoSport gets a redesigned front end comprising of a trapezoidal grille flanked by projector headlamps and LED DRLs. Lower variants get halogen quadbeam reflector headlamps. The base variant comes with 15-inch steel wheels, while higher variants get 16-inch alloy wheels. The top-end Titanium+ variant rides on 17-inch alloy wheels.

On the inside, the EcoSport facelift gets a new dashboard and a new 3-spoke steering wheel. It also features a floating 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Lower variants get a 6.5-inch display with SYNC3 and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. It can also be operated through voice commands and steering mounted controls. Some of the other features offered on the new EcoSport include rain sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, rear view camera, keyless entry, engine start/stop button, automatically folding ORVMs and height adjustable driver’s seat.

Safety features like ABS with EBD and dual front airbags are standard across all variants. Higher variants get additional safety features such as side and curtain airbags, speed warning, emergency brake assist (EBA), electronic stability control (ESC), traction control, hill launch assist, ISOFIX child safety seat mounting points and cruise control.

The EcoSport facelift is offered with a choice of petrol and diesel engines. A new 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder, naturally-aspirated petrol engine has been introduced. This Dragon Series engine produces 121 BHP @ 6,500 rpm and 150 Nm of torque @ 4,500 rpm. Customers choose from a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. The ARAI certified fuel efficiency of the EcoSport petrol is 17 km/l and 14.8 km/l for the manual and automatic variants respectively.

The EcoSport continues to use the same 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that powered the outgoing car. This unit produces 99 BHP @ 3,750 rpm and 205 Nm of torque @ 1,750-3,250 rpm and is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. It has an ARAI certified fuel efficiency figure of 23 km/l.
