GM exploring the use of ChatGPT in its future vehicles

GM & Microsoft entered into a partnership in 2021 to accelerate the commercialisation of driverless vehicles.

According to media reports, General Motors, as part of its collaboration with Microsoft Corp, could be exploring the use of ChatGPT in its future vehicles.

The American carmaker's President, Scott Miller, stated that ChatGPT will be in everything. It was also reported earlier that GM has been working on a virtual personal assistant that uses AI models behind ChatGPT.

The chatbot could be introduced in vehicles and used to access information on how to use a specific feature (normally found in the owner's manual) and integrate multiple features - from opening the garage door to scheduling the calenders. A GM spokesperson added that the use of such a chatbot or AI tech could allow customers to make their vehicles far more capable.

Microsoft, earlier this year, inked a multi-billion dollar investment in OpenAI - the owner of ChatGPT, with plans to add the tech into all its products.

GM & Microsoft entered into a partnership in 2021 to accelerate the commercialisation of driverless vehicles. The tech company, over the years, has been ramping up its efforts to embed more tech in vehicles -from infotainment systems to developing an OS that controls multiple functions in a vehicle.
