Images of VW Polo-based sedan leaked

The first images of the upcoming VW Polo-based sedan have leaked. It is rumoured to be called Volkswagen Virtus and will be based on VW's MQB A0 platform.

The Virtus is expected to be the first among a host of other models based on the latest MQB A0 platform. The current-gen Polo and the Vento sedan in India are based on the old PQ25 platform, which is said to be up for a replacement soon. Both the models will eventually be based on the latest platform.

The spy images reveal styling that it is similar to some of the latest VW sedans. The front looks like an evolution of the Polo with slightly tweaked headlamps, a new grille and a front bumper with large sized vents. Its profile is quite similar to the Vento with a single feature line and a simple window design. That said, the new taillights, a subtle lip spoiler and chrome garnish around the bumper give a new look to the rear.

The interior has also been redesigned. Inside, the conventional dials have been replaced with a 10.2-inch TFT instrument cluster while an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment screen sits above the climate control module.

There has been no official word yet on the powertrain options however some media reports suggest that the India-spec model could get a 1.6-litre petrol, 1.0-litre TSI turbocharged petrol and a diesel.
