A test mule of the Jeep Compass was recently spotted in Pune. A closer look at the car revealed that its rear windshield was sporting a sticker suggesting that the vehicle was powered by a 1.6-litre diesel engine that produces 120 BHP and is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. The sticker also indicated that the test car was equipped with an all-wheel drive system.

While Jeep has started testing the Compass with a smaller capacity diesel engine, it is likely that this variant is being prepared for export markets and will not be sold in India.

In India, the Jeep Compass is offered with a 1.4-litre, turbocharged petrol engine which produces 160 BHP and 250 Nm as well as a 2.0-litre, diesel engine which makes 171 BHP and 350 Nm of torque. While both engines are available with a 6-speed manual gearbox, the petrol version is available with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission as well. An all-wheel drive system is only available in the diesel-powered Compass.
