Jeep erects India's largest billboard for Compass

Jeep India has finished building a large billboard on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. It is claimed to be India's largest billboard and can be spotted on the left-hand side on a small hill when going towards Pune.

The billboard consists of the Jeep logo and Compass lettering along with a red cutout of the SUV on the right side. A video of the installation released by the company indicates that the planning stage took 3 weeks and over 50 different designs were considered before selecting the final design. It is reported to have taken 70 craftsmen and 45 days to build the signboard. 80,000 kg of metal has been used and the installation is 253 feet in width and 100 feet in height. The logo itself is 164.6 feet long and 65.8 feet high.

Last month, the company launched a limited edition model of the Compass called as the 'Bedrock Edition' to commemorate selling 25,000 units of the Jeep Compass in under a year. The Compass is offered in both 4X2 and 4X4 variants with a choice of a diesel and a petrol engine. The diesel engine is a 2.0-litre, turbocharged unit that puts out 172 BHP @ 3,750 rpm and 350 Nm of torque @ 1,750-2,500 rpm. It is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. The petrol unit is a 1.4-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged engine that develops 160 BHP and 250 Nm of torque. It is offered with a choice of a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual clutch automatic gearbox.

Earlier this year, the Trailhawk version of the Compass was showcased at a private event. However, there has been no official word on its launch date.
