Mahindra Imperio - more images; launch on Jan 6, 2016

Mahindra will launch the Imperio pickup truck on January, 6, 2016. While the vehicle has been spotted without camouflage previously, some more spy images have surfaced, giving us a closer look at the truck.

The Imperio appears to be nothing more than a facelifted version of the Genio. As we have seen before, it gets a restyled front fascia. There is a redesigned grille with a honeycomb mesh pattern and silver accents, reworked headlamp clusters, a tweaked bumper and a new bonnet.

The sides and rear of the truck appear to be largely similar to the outgoing model. The new bonnet has resulted in the bonnet shut lines appearing on the sides of the vehicle and the turn indicators on the front panels are new.

On the inside, the Imperio gets a black dashboard and steering wheel. The designs of the parts and fittings are carried over from the Genio.

The Imperio is likely to use the same 2.5-litre diesel engine that is found in the Genio. This engine produces 75 BHP and 220 Nm of torque and is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Mahindra has given it gets two driving modes - Power and Eco. A switch on the right side of the dashboard allows the driver to choose between them.

The Imperio will compete in the sub-3.5 ton LCV segment and will be aimed at small and medium businesses. It is expected to come in single cab and double cab variants.
