Mahindra Thar Ride-On EV for kids priced at Rs. 19,999

Despite the growing trend of electric cars, a full-size Mahindra Thar-based electric vehicle (EV) seems highly unlikely however the carmaker does offer a battery-operated, rechargeable Thar Ride-On EV for kids. It is priced at Rs. 19,999 and is available at Mahindra dealerships.

The Thar Ride-On is a replica of the full-size off-roader. It features an identical front fascia with the 7-slat grille flanked by circular headlamps and rectangular turn-indicators positioned on the fenders. It has doors that open, bonnet clamps, ORVMs and a spare wheel mounted on the tail gate, which doubles as a storage compartment. The car rides on plastic wheels with a rubber strip on the rear wheels to aid grip. The wheels have chrome wheel caps.

The Thar Ride-On comes with a single seat fitted with a safety belt, a fully-functional pedal, forward and reverse selector and steering wheel. It can also be controlled via a remote direction controller. There are three backlit dials on the dashboard and a start/stop button. The dashboard also houses a radio, which comes with speakers and a USB port.

The Thar Ride-On is powered by a 6V battery and an electric motor. Mahindra claims that it has top speed of 3.5-4 km/h and can run for 1-1.5 hours on a single charge. The battery can be recharged via a 2-pin charger. A battery charge indicator has been provided on the dashboard. The claimed charging time for the battery is 10-12 hours.
