Mahindra has just given its flagship product, the XUV500, a small upgrade in the form of a trip meter that is now capable of reading out 4 digits. The older trip meter was able to read out only 3 digits, limiting its range to 999 Kms. With the new trip meter, Mahindra XUV500 owners can now log up to 9,999 kms before the trip meter returns to zero. For incorporating this change, all existing owners of the Mahindra XUV500 need to head to the nearest Mahindra dealer. The trip meter read out upgrade is offered free of cost to the customer as a part of Mahindra's product improvement strategy based on customer feedback.
A while ago, Mahindra recalled the XUV500 crossover in order to replace faulty parts. Though the XUV500 comes loaded with features and creature comforts, many of them hitherto unseen on an SUV priced under 20 lakh rupees, niggles have plagued the fancy features offered on the crossover. Apart from the trip meter reset, Mahindra would do well to revamp the niggle prone infotainment package on the XUV500. In the coming months, Mahindra is coming up with a cut price W4 version of the XUV500, aimed at taking on the top end variants of the Renault Duster, a product that is one of the top selling SUVs in the Indian car market.
Mahindra sells the XUV500 in India with a single turbo diesel engine option in the form of the 2.2 Liter mHawk. This engine outputs 140 Bhp-330 Nm and is mated to a 6 speed manual gearbox. Both front wheel drive and all wheel drive versions of the XUV500 are on sale in the Indian car market. Mahindra is developing a petrol powered XUV500 for launch in export markets. The Mahindra XUV500 is the first indigenous monocoque product from the Indian car and utility vehicle brand and the competitively priced crossover has been a big success right from the word go.
