Maruti Ciaz / YL1 spotted testing again

Maruti Suzuki continues to test the Ciaz sedan in India. The car, codenamed YL1, has been spotted near the company's factory in Gurgaon, Haryana by a reader of motoring website, Motorbeam.

The Ciaz concept was displayed by Maruti at the 12th Auto Expo, which was held in February 2014. However, we expect the production version of the car to look a lot more conservative when it is launched in India later this year.

It is unclear what engines the production version of the Ciaz will sport. However, we expect the Fiat-sourced 1.3-litre, 90PS, MultiJet diesel and the 1.4-litre, 95PS, K-Series petrol units to be used.  Apart from a manual gearbox, an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) could also be on offer.

The Ciaz is expected to replace the SX4 and will compete against the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento and Nissan Sunny.
