Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Wagon R spotted with Idling Stop system

Maruti Suzuki has started testing an engine stop start system for the Ciaz sedan and Wagon R. Dubbed Idling Stop, the technology will be expected to improve the fuel efficiency of the vehicles. In a stop start system, the engine turns off automatically when the car stops and restarts when the clutch is pressed.

The technology is likely to be seen first in the upcoming RS variant of the Ciaz. Apart from the Idling Stop technology, this variant will be equipped with 16-inch alloy wheels, a chin spoiler, side skirts, boot-mounted rear spoiler and diffuser. On the inside, the RS is likely to get a SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment system, illuminated scuff plates, leather-wrapped steering wheel and new upholstery.

The Wagon R will follow later. A report by Business Standard suggests that the Ertiga MPV could also be given the stop start technology.

Both, the Ciaz RS and the Wagon R are expected to continue using the same engines as the current models.
