Maruti Suzuki has 3.25 lakh pending new car deliveries

CNG-powered models account for 1.29 lakh units out of the 3.25 lakh pending orders.

Earlier this week, we had reported how Maruti Suzuki was grappling with the ongoing chip shortage, which has resulted in a drop in production. Besides this, the carmaker now has a huge backlog of deliveries.

According to a media report, Maruti has 3.25 lakh pending orders. Out of these, 1.29 lakh units or over 40% are for CNG models.

According to Shashank Srivastava, Executive Director - Marketing & Sales, CNG variants make up almost 17% of the brand's overall sales. In FY2022, CNG sales increased by 44%, from 1.62 lakh units to 2.64 lakh units.

Currently, Maruti Suzuki offers factory-fitted CNG option on nine models and plans to add new models to the list. Reports suggest that the Baleno, Ciaz and the upcoming Brezza could get CNG options in the near future.
