Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class launched in India at Rs. 58.90 lakh

Mercedes-Benz has launched the GLE-Class in India. The SUV is available in two variants – GLE 250d and GLE 350d, priced at Rs. 58.90 lakh and Rs. 69.90 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Both variants will be assembled at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Chakan, near Pune.

GLE-Class is the successor for the M-Class. It gets restyled full LED headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights, a grille with twin slats and a centrally positioned star, new bumpers, tweaked LED tail lamps and reworked tail pipes.

On the inside, the car gets a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, reworked dashboard and instrument cluster, an 8-inch display for the infotainment system, COMAND Online with telematics and, Mercedes-Benz Apps, navigation, telephone, audio, video, internet and wi-fi hotspot.

The GLE 250d comes with a 2,143cc, 4-cylinder diesel engine that develops 203 BHP and 500 Nm of torque. The GLE 350d is powered by a 2,987cc, V6 diesel engine that produces 255 BHP and 620 Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission and a permanent four-wheel drive system.

The GLE comes with a Dynamic Select system that offers 5 drive modes - Comfort, Sport, Slippery, Individual and Off-road. The vehicle’s suspension can be adjusted to increase the ground clearance to a maximum of 232 mm. The suspension is automatically lowered by 15 mm at high speeds.

The GLE is equipped with safety features and assistance systems such as 6 airbags, Crosswind Assist, Attention Assist, Active Parking Assist and Brake Assist Plus.
