Mercedes C-Class fabric roof liner damaged: Need Advice

This is a common issue with most Euro brands. Be it Skoda, VW, Audi, BMW or Mercedes.

Dr Tejinder Bhasin drops this query via the Team-BHP share page!

I have this strange issue with my Mercedes C-Class.

The cloth of the roof is coming apart. Please help!

Here's what BHPian ajmat had to say on the matter:

Which year is this C-Class? It looks like dampness has affected the roof line - I could be wrong

Here's what BHPian Akshay1234 had to say on the matter:

This looks like a normal case of the roof fabric getting separated from its foam backing. Happens due to heat and age. The only solution is to replace the complete roof fabric.

Here's what BHPian Vid6639 had to say on the matter:

This is a common issue with most Euro brands. Be it Skoda, VW, Audi, BMW or Merc. If you park outside in the sun over time the fabric comes off the foam as Akshay mentioned.

The dealer will replace the entire roof including foam. You need to go to a guy who can remove the cloth and fix the same or a similar shade of cloth back.

Here's what BHPian Jeroen had to say on the matter:

As mentioned by other members, the headliners are coming loose from their foam backing. Can not be fixed, needs to be replaced completely.

I just had it done to my Jaguar XJR, have a look here

As a temporary fix, you might be able to stick small pins into it. But it will get worse as time goes on.

Good luck
