Mitsubishi wants BS6 deadline extended

According to a media report, Mitsubishi India has requested the Indian government to push back the BS6 deadline. The BS6 emission norms are set to come into effect from April 1, 2020.

It is believed that Mitsubishi approached the government because it does not have any models that comply with the new emissions regulations in India. Both the Pajero Sport and Outlander are imported from Japan as completely built units (CBU).

The report suggests that the Outlander would require minor modifications to make it BS6 compliant. At present, the SUV is offered with a 2.4-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine that produces 165 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 222 Nm of torque @ 4,100 rpm and is paired with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with paddle shifts.
