My observations on the IRA app after using it in my Safari Dark Edition

About the IRA App:

Have been experimenting with IRA app for the past week. So, though about sharing more about it.

Tata provides connected car technology using the IRA app. The way it works is that each vehicle has a mobile sim attached to it from factory. This sim is responsible for accumulating the data and uploading it on servers. As soon as car was invoiced in my name, I could see the vehicle moving in my app. However, this was disabled soon. When contacted, they mentioned it is only enabled after KYC is complete post delivery. You can access this data on servers through the app and even send few remote commands to your car. It has benefits for those who have a chauffeur driven car. This app provides the below benefits free for one year or some data usage limit whichever expires earlier:

Remote commands: You can immobilize the car in case of theft. You can lock, unlock, turn lights on , setup the horn remotely. These are available on the Home Screen:

Geo-fencing & time-fencing: You can set a perimeter around your area. You will get notifications via the app if the car moves out of this area:

At any point of time, you can find location of your car and set a trip to reach there.

It also provides diagnostic support. You can request for quick diagnosis of the systems and you get the status on your phone:

SOS. You can enter five emergency numbers. On pressing the SOS button, all these contacts get notified. Haven't tried it:

Trip meters and service centre location: You can set trips and navigate. It also has inbuilt location of nearest workshops in case you need them anytime:

Please note your driving skills are also getting captured by this app. It will keep on accumulating your driving style details and provide you with a score and will also provide details about harsh braking, harsh accelerations etc.

Finally, there is some social group called tribe kind of thing. They are basically owners of Safaris and Harriers who have joined the tribe. A leader board is maintained for distance, fuel efficiency and driving skills on daily, weekly and monthly basis:

In case, you do not carry the car manual in your pocket, Tata has also created an app for the Tata manual, which provides this manual as an easy interactive look-up table. Do try it out:

The app has a lot of issues. Seems like we are Beta testers of the app and Tata has saved some cost there and we are their testing engineers.
