My Toyota Hilux: First impressions and ownership experience

A quick review for now — I’ll post a more detailed one later with pictures and mods

BHPian rm2099 recently shared this with other enthusiasts:

The Essentials

  • Variant: STD
  • Duration: 20 days of ownership
  • Distance: ~1300 km clocked so far
    • ~800 km in Chandigarh city traffic (peak hours)
    • ~500 km on highways + weekend drives to Kasauli
  • Weather: Driven mostly in peak summer heat

First Impressions & Experience

  • Not the most convenient vehicle in tight urban maneuvers — U-turns and truck bed management can be a chore.
  • But oh boy, what a joy to drive!
  • It's now my daily driver — office runs, kid’s school drops, errands — I haven’t felt the urge to take out my super-comfortable XUV500 since the Hilux arrived.
  • Ride dynamics are genuinely impressive — it feels composed, confident, and in control at all times.
  • The AC is brutally effective — absolutely chill even in Chandigarh heat.
  • It’s become a head-turner despite being more common now (thanks to ongoing discounts).
  • Friends and family who were always lazy for late-night drives are now volunteering for rides — especially in the truck bed.
  • The kids? Absolutely love it.
  • No regrets — thrilled I made this decision.

I'll follow up soon with pictures and all the mods done. Let me know if you want any specifics covered in the detailed review!
