New car under 15 lakh for better half: Test drove the MG Windsor EV

Its light steering is great for the city but the air-conditioning of the electric vehicle felt weak.

BHPian anish41 recently shared this with other enthusiasts:

My friend is shopping for a new car in the sub-15 lakh price bracket for his wife.

We had some free time in the afternoon today so we went to take a look at the MG Windsor.

First impressions:

The car looks very unconventional but isn't an eyesore. It felt very well put together for the price. Took TD with me in the rear seat first, afterwards, I took it for a spin.

Pros:

  • The rear seat offers good support and adjustment.
  • Airy cabin.
  • Interiors felt neatly put together, some material choices might be questionable but not a deal breaker.
  • The features on offer are great.
  • Light steering, great for the city.
  • Punchy and responsive, it builds speed briskly.
  • Quality infotainment and sound.

Cons:

  • The floor is a bit too high. I'm 6 ft tall for reference. Manageable for the city but I won't be thrilled to sit in this cabin for long journeys.
  • Ride quality is a bit stiff.
  • Everything in the car is controlled by the screen, yes even things like adjusting the ORVMs.
  • Real-world range of 220-250 km is low even by today's standards.
  • AC is weak, extremely weak. 33 degrees outside at 2 PM, even after 20 minutes of riding with AC set to low and the blower blasting, it wasn't able to properly cool the rear of the cabin.
