Royal Enfield Thunderbird 500X spied

Royal Enfield will soon launch a new variant of the Thunderbird in India. Recent spy images suggest that the new variant will be called the Thunderbird 500X.

The new Thunderbird 500X will be offered in two different dual-tone colour options - blue and yellow. The bike features blacked-out engine, crankcase, exhaust and front forks. The short handlebars, twin-pod instrument cluster and mirrors have also been finished in matte black. The seat appears to be new and comes with a set of new grab handles. The 500X will get a round headlight finished in matte black with LED DRLs and an LED tail light.

More importantly, this variant gets 9-spoke alloy wheels painted in black with a colour-matched pinstripe on the rim. It is likely to get factory-fitted tubeless tyres as well. Besides, it is expected to borrow its suspension components from the standard Thunderbird.

The Thunderbird 500X is expected to get the same 499cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine as the standard model which produces 27.2 BHP @ 5,250 rpm and peak torque of 41.3 Nm @ 4,000 rpm. It comes paired with a 5-speed gearbox. The spy images indicate that the bike will be offered with disc brakes at both ends.
