Rumour: Hyundai Tucson launch delayed

Hyundai India was earlier reported to be planning to launch the new-gen Tucson on October 24. However, latest reports suggest that the automaker has now deferred the launch of the upcoming SUV. The new launch date hasn’t been decided yet. No official statement regarding the postponed launch has been revealed as of now.

The 2016 Hyundai Tucson was earlier showcased at this year's Auto Expo in Greater Noida. At that time, Hyundai India had officially announced that the Tucson will be brought to the country through the CKD route, and will be placed between the Creta and the Santa Fe in the company's SUV line-up. The Tucson's launch is in-line with Hyundai India's strategy to push its average product cost towards the premium segment.

The Korean automaker had earlier launched the first-generation model in 2005. However, the second-gen Tucson never made it to India. But with growing demand of SUVs and Crossovers in the Indian market, the company decided to bring the third-gen Tucson to the country.

Once launched, the 2016 Hyundai Tucson will go up against rivals like the Skoda Yeti, SsangYong Rexton and Honda CR-V.
