Rumour: Maruti Ertiga facelift to get 1.6L diesel, AMT, AT

Earlier this month, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga facelift was spotted testing. The car has been spied once again and with the new image, come reports that it will get some mechanical changes.

A new 1.6-litre diesel engine is rumoured to be plonked under the hood of the MPV. The existing 1.4-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel units are expected to continue as well. However, Maruti could offer an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) with the diesel engine. The 1.4-litre petrol engine is also likely to get a conventional automatic gearbox. Just like it did for the facelifted Swift, Maruti is expected to tune the Ertiga's engines for delivering better fuel efficiency.

Cosmetic changes to the Ertiga are expected to include a new twin slat grille, new headlamps and tail lamps, new front and rear bumpers and alloy wheels of a different design.

Maruti could also give the Ertiga updated interiors with new upholstery. Equipment is likely to include electrically retractable rear view mirrors, automatic climate control and other features from the Swift facelift.

The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga facelift is likely to be launched by mid-2015.
