Rumour: Royal Enfield developing sub-650cc engine platform

According to a media report, Royal Enfield is developing a new engine platform that will slot in between the 350cc and 650cc.

According to Vinod Dasari, CEO, Royal Enfield, demand for very high-end products is waning. However, the mid-sized market is expected to grow. The 500cc and above segment in India has grown four times since the launch of the 650cc Twins.

It has been reported that Royal Enfield's product development teams in the UK and India could leverage the infrastructure that is already in place for existing engines and frames. In addition to the new platform, the company could also modify the existing 350cc and 650cc platforms.
