Skoda Auto VW India exports 500,000th Made-in-India car

The milestone vehicle was a left-hand-drive VW Vento destined for Mexico.

Skoda Auto Volkswagen India has reached a new milestone with the export of its 500,000th car manufactured in India. The milestone vehicle was a left-hand-drive VW Vento that was built at the Pune plant. It is part of a shipment of 982 cars that is destined for Mexico.

The carmaker exports cars made in India to 62 countries across South America, Central America, Africa, India-Sub Continent, Southeast Asia, Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and the Caribbean region.

Skoda Auto VW India has exported over 25,000 cars in the current year. The current year exports account for almost 45% of the total production volume.

Over the next few years, the company will be introducing models based on the new MQB A0 IN platform with up to 95% localization and will be evaluating export markets for these cars.
