Spotted on test: Tata Nano AMT with keyhole, handle for hatch

Thanks to BHPian f1fan for sharing this picture with us.

Earlier this week, we had reported the sighting of the Automated Manual Transmission-equipped Tata Nano Twist Active with an openable hatch near Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Another test mule of the car has been spotted, this time on National Highway 4, near Kolhapur Maharashtra.

Like the earlier test mule, this car has a keyhole for the hatch. However, the picture shows that unlike the earlier car, this one also has a handle to lift the hatch open.

The Nano Active Twist can be distinguished from the other variants of the Nano by its redesigned bumpers with smiley grilles, headlamps with black bezels and altered tail lamps.

The Tata Nano Twist Active will feature an AMT unit which is expected to make the car more stress-free to drive since it does not need a clucth to be depressed while changing gears. The car is also likely to carry over the Nano Twist XT's electric power assisted steering (EPAS), which makes the car significantly easier to drive and park. The addition of the openable hatch will add a dose of practicality to it.
