Tata Q502 7-seater SUV spotted

Tata Motors is expected to showcase some new cars at the 2018 Auto Expo. Among the vehicles is a new 5-seater SUV (codenamed Q501 / H5) and a 7-seater SUV (codenamed Q502). Both SUVs are reportedly based on the L550 platform, which underpins the Land Rover Discovery Sport.

A test mule of what is believed to be the Q502 has been spotted. Unlike previously spotted test mules, which sported a Land Rover Discovery Sport bodyshell, the new test mule of the SUV has what appears to be pre-production bodywork with a lot of camouflage. While the camouflage makes it quite difficult to comment on the exterior of the SUV, the side profile of the vehicle does look similar to a Land Rover Discovery Sport. It has an upright stance and high belt line and appears to have a roof-mounted spoiler with an integrated HMSL at the rear. The test mule is seen sporting 5-spoke alloy wheels finished in black and is fitted with pre-production headlights and tail lights.

Media reports suggest that the Q501 and Q502 will be powered by a Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine, which is the same engine that powers the Jeep Compass. In the Q501, it is expected to produce around 140 BHP, while in the Q502, it is expected to develop 170 BHP.
