Toyota-Suzuki working on compact EV for India

According to a media report, Toyota and Suzuki are developing a compact battery electric vehicle (BEV) for the Indian market.

According to Shigeki Terashi, Executive Vice President, Toyota Motor Corporation, the companies are looking at introducing the compact EV at an early stage. However, he did not reveal the exact timeline.

In November 2017, Toyota and Suzuki had formalized an agreement to manufacture and sell electric vehicles in India. Suzuki would manufacture the EVs in India, while Toyota would provide technical inputs. Meanwhile, Suzuki has already started testing the WagonR EV in India.
