VW Virtus: Abnormal AC behaviour spoiling my otherwise good experience

I'm not happy with the air conditioning of the car but the way it drives and pulls makes me forget about the issues.

Virtus GT Update

Delivery Date: 27th September 2022

ODO: 5800 KM

Hello everyone, it's been a while since the last update. As summer suddenly happened in NCR, I noticed that my car's AC was behaving a bit abnormally. I could hear the compressor kick on and it made a loud noise each time it did. While driving it would go, on - off, on - off every 15 to 20 seconds. During its off phase, the air in the cabin would become humid and a few seconds later nice and cold, this cycle kept repeating.

I usually keep the AC at 23 degrees throughout the year, but this forced me to keep it at a lower temperature in the hopes that the AC would stay “ON”, tried this for a few days and then one day noticed that the AC had switched itself off, had to manually switch it back on again. Odd.

We all know about the driver-side window that rolls back or has its one-touch up/down feature malfunction regularly prompting a reset. This prompted me to give my VW SA a call, he said to bring the car in, there are some software updates available for these issues.

Made sometime last week and took the car to the workshop. When I reached I was told that the VIN no. of my car is not flagged for an update, but he will connect the VCDS and check anyway, upon checking, the update was available and this was initiated.

While I was there I got the hood insulation installed as well. 1,100/- after taxes.

So what was the end result?

I think the AC is the same, I have felt no difference, I keep the AC at 22 and I can still hear the compressor go on, off, and in a jerky not so smooth way. Why can't they get this right? None of my previous vehicles had an AC compressor/clutch mechanism that made such a loud and jerky sound. Some SKODA owners have reported that after this update their ventilated seats stopped working. Thankfully this has not happened to me - although just because I read this I feel their effectiveness has gone down.

Driver-side window issue seems resolved, no malfunctions after a week of usage. Overall, I am not happy with the AC, it is loud and keeps increasing/decreasing the fan speed on auto. I just don't want to have to deal with this kind of stuff on what is otherwise a nice car, but the way it drives and pulls makes me forget these things, the things VW owners have to deal with. Otherwise no other issues, consistent 12-17km/l on XP95 and 32PSI in all tires.

In other news, COBRA lowering springs should arrive next week. Will share some details about that once the job is done.
