Zoomcar’s AI-based driver scoring system for passenger cars

Zoomcar has unveiled a vehicle-agnostic driver scoring system for passenger cars. It uses an AI algorithm to track mechanical specs of the car, driving style and rates driving skills on a scale of 0-100.

According to the company, the system, called as the Driver Score Tech Stack, provides real-time feedback to drivers about their driving behaviour. It is claimed to reduce accident rates by 20% and maintenance costs by 25% for Zoomcar. The company aims to sell it as a tech enabled insurance product to existing insurers and car dealers in the near future.

It is said that existing rating systems are not designed for Indian conditions and are primarily designed for commercial vehicles. These systems operate at an average of 50-60% efficiency in India due to many unknown India-specific variables.
