Prices for the all-new Maruti Swift are expected to be announced later this month.

Maruti Suzuki has announced the commencement of pre-bookings for the all-new Swift in India. Customers can place their orders by paying a token amount of Rs 11,000. 

Maruti Suzuki has also shared a teaser of the new Swift. It partially reveals the front fascia, which now features a redesigned grille flanked by a pair of LED headlamps. It now has new L-shaped LED DRLs as well.

The 2024 Maruti Suzuki Swift will feature the new Z-series 1.2-litre 3-cylinder mild-hybrid petrol engine. Its output is expected to be similar to the outgoing K12 engine and will be paired with either a 5-speed manual or an AMT gearbox.

The Swift is expected to come equipped with 6 airbags, ABS with EBD and ESP. Features like a 360-degree camera and ADAS might not be offered in the Indian market.

The new Swift is expected to be launched in India next month.

According to multiple media reports, select Maruti Suzuki Arena dealerships have started accepting bookings for the fourth-generation Swift. They are taking pre-orders for a token amount of Rs 11,000.

The new Swift is expected to be launched in India next month. However, Maruti Suzuki is yet to confirm the exact date.

The fourth-generation Swift made its global debut at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show. Reports suggest that the India-spec car will be slightly different. It is expected to get different front and rear bumpers, blacked-out C-pillars, LED headlights, LED fog lamps and a reverse camera mounted on the boot lid.

Ducati DesertX Rally pre-bookings open in India

The Ducati DesertX Rally gets several upgrades over the standard DesertX - currently on sale in India.

Ducati India has started accepting pre-bookings for the new DesertX Rally. The off-road-focused adventure bike will be launched later this year.

The Ducati DesertX Rally gets several upgrades over the standard DesertX - currently on sale in India. The bike features a 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoked wheel, KYB upside-down front forks and a mono-shock at the rear with 20 mm of additional suspension travel at both ends.

The DesertX Rally also gets a raised front fender, forged carbon sump guard, machined gear pedals and rear brake lever.

The DesertX Rally is powered by the same 937cc Testrastretta twin-cylinder engine as the standard version. This engine produces 108 BHP @ 9,250 rpm and 92 Nm @ 6,500 rpm.

The bike has six riding modes: Urban, Sport, Touring, Wet, Enduro and Rally. Other features include traction control, wheelie control, cornering ABS and a 5-inch digital instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity.

Hyundai Creta facelift clocks 1 lakh bookings within 3 months

The Creta facelift now commands a waiting period of up to 6 months.

Hyundai claims to have received over 1 lakh bookings for the Creta facelift since its launch. The SUV now commands a waiting period of up to 6 months, as the carmaker currently has an order backlog of over 45,000 units.

The updated Creta was launched in January this year. The SUV is available in seven trims and according to Hyundai, variants equipped with a sunroof and connected car features account for 71% and 52% of the total bookings, respectively.

The Creta facelift is available with three engine options, including a 1.5-litre petrol engine that makes 113 BHP and 144 Nm, paired with a 6-speed manual or CVT; a 1.5-litre diesel that puts out 114 BHP and 250 Nm, offered with a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic and a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol that produces 158 BHP and 253 Nm, that is available with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.

BMW i5 M60 xDrive bookings open in India

The BMW i5 M60 xDrive can cover 516 km on a single charge (WLTP cycle).

BMW has announced the pre-launch bookings of the first-ever BMW i5 M60 xDrive in India. The electric sedan will be imported via the CBU route.

The BMW i5 M60 xDrive is based on the eighth generation of the 5 Series. On the outside, the EV features a wider, blanked-out kidney grille with angular headlamps on either side and twin boomerang-shaped LED DRLs. The M60 xDrive version gets a slightly sportier body kit.

Inside, the BMW i5 features a free-standing dual display, integrating a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment screen.

Powering the i5 M60 xDrive are two electric motors that generate 593 BHP and a peak torque of 820 Nm, allowing the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. The car can cover 516 km on a single charge (WLTP cycle).

BYD Seal clocks 500 bookings in less than a month

The BYD Seal is available in three variants – Dynamic, Premium and Performance, with prices starting at Rs 41 lakh.

BYD has announced that it has received over 500 bookings for the Seal EV in less than a month. The electric sedan was launched on March 5, 2024.

Sanjay Gopalakrishnan, Senior Vice President of Electric Passenger Vehicle Business, BYD India, said, “We are confident of our product, of our pricing and are pleased to see the response it has generated in the market. We did hit the 200 bookings mark soon after launch, and within 15 days, we have registered 500 bookings.”

The BYD Seal is available in three variants – Dynamic, Premium and Performance, with prices starting at Rs 41 lakh (ex-showroom). It shares its underpinnings with the Atto 3 electric SUV.

The Seal comes with single and dual-motor configurations. The base Dynamic trim uses a 61.44 kWh battery pack that powers a 201 BHP electric motor. It has a claimed range of 510 km. 

The Premium variant uses an 82.56 kWh battery offering 650 km of range. The electric motor has an output of 308 BHP and 360 Nm. 

The top-spec Performance trim gets an 82.56 kWh battery that powers two electric motors. It has 523 BHP and 670 Nm and offers a range of 580 km on a single charge.

Volvo XC40 Recharge Single bookings open in India

The XC40 Recharge single-motor variant is priced at Rs 54.95 lakh (ex-showroom).

Earlier this month, Volvo launched a single-motor variant of the XC40 Recharge in India. The carmaker has now announced the commencement of bookings. Customers can book the EV via Volvo’s official website by paying a sum of Rs 1 lakh. The EV is priced at Rs 54.95 lakh (ex-showroom).

The XC40 Recharge Single comes with a 69 kWh battery pack that has a claimed maximum range of 475 km on a single charge. It powers an electric motor that has an output of 236 BHP and 420 Nm. It enables the car to sprint from 0-100 km/h in 7.3 seconds and to a top speed of 180 km/h.

The XC40 Recharge is also available with a dual-motor configuration. This variant uses a 79 kWh battery pack that offers a range of 418 km. The electric motors have a combined output of 402 BHP and 660 Nm and help accelerate the SUV from 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds.

Hyundai Creta N Line unveiled; bookings open in India

Prices for the Hyundai Creta N Line will be announced on March 11.

Hyundai has officially revealed the Creta N Line for the Indian market. The carmaker has also announced the commencement of bookings, ahead of the car’s official launch, slated for March 11.

The Creta N Line is based on the recently introduced Creta facelift. The SUV looks sportier than the standard version. It features a different rectangular front grille and bumper with silver inserts, L-shaped LED DRLs and 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels with red brake calipers. It has a sporty bumper at the rear with dual-tip exhaust, a roof spoiler and side skirts with red highlights.

Keeping with the sporty theme, the Creta N Line gets an all-black interior with red accents, an N Line-specific steering wheel, a gear lever and aluminium pedals. 

The Creta N Line will be offered with the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine. This unit produces 158 BHP and 253 Nm and will be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The N Line version also gets a stiffer suspension setup for more focused handling characteristics, tweaked steering and a tuned exhaust.

The BYD Seal could get an 82.5 kWh battery pack, offering a range of 570 km

Chinese EV maker, BYD, has announced the opening of bookings for the Seal EV. The electric sedan will be unveiled on March 5, 2024.

The BYD Seal features a coupe-like design with an all-glass roof, flush-fitting door handles, split LED headlights with boomerang-shaped LED DRLs, and a full-width LED light bar at the rear. Inside, the BYD Seal comes with a large 15.6-inch central touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a head-up display.

Reports suggest that the Seal will be offered with an 82.5 kWh battery pack, offering a range of 570 km (WLTP cycle). This single-motor variant is said to produce 227 BHP and 360 Nm, allowing the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds.

BYD is offering customers a chance to win a UEFA match ticket and a round-trip flight ticket from India to the match venue. Customers who book the BYD Seal by April 30, 2024, will be eligible for this offer. Winners will be declared on BYD’s official social media and website in May 2024.
