Rumour: MY2019 Suzuki Hayabusa bookings open

Earlier this week, we had reported that the Hayabusa would go out of production after December 31, 2018 in select markets of the world due to non-compliance with emission norms. However, it seems the bike will be sold in India at least for now.

According to a media report Suzuki is now taking bookings for the 2019 Hayabusa. The booking amount has been set at Rs. 1 lakh. The Hayabusa is imported via the CKD route and is priced at Rs. 13.59 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The Hayabusa is powered by a 1,340cc, liquid-cooled 4-cylinder engine which is mated to a 6-speed transmission. It rides on inverted telescopic forks at the front and monoshock suspension at the rear. Suzuki Hayabusa production to end in December 2018

Production of the Suzuki GSX1300R will come to an end on December 31, 2018. Better known as the Hayabusa, the bike will be discontinued due to non-compliance with future emission regulations.

The GSX1300R is unable to meet the Euro 4 emission norms that came into effect in 2016. The last date of sale for existing non-Euro 4 compliant bikes is December 31, 2018. After this date, any pending inventory would be shipped to the North American market. No new Hayabusa will be produced after this date.

Back in 1999, the first-generation Hayabusa made its debut. It had an unrestricted top speed (rumuored to be in excess of 312 km/h) and a 10-second quarter mile time. The 1999 model year bikes held the production speed record for a long time as bike manufacturers had an informal agreement to limit their vehicles to 299 km/h. The Hayabusa was beaten only recently by the Ducati Panigale R and the Kawasaki Ninja H2.

The second-generation Hayabusa was introduced in 2008.

Suzuki two-wheelers India has reached a milestone of producing 30 lakh units in the country. The company had started its Indian operations in February 2006 and has thus reached the said milestone after over 11 years of its presence in the country.

The landmark vehicle, a Suzuki Access 125, was rolled out on April 17, 2017 at the company's production facility in Gurgaon, Haryana. 2017 Suzuki Hayabusa launched in India; gets new colours

Suzuki has launched the 2017 Hayabusa in India with three new colours: Glass Sparkle Black / Pearl Glacier White (AGT), Pearl Vigor Blue / Glass Sparkle Black (BBD) and Glass Sparkle Black (YVB). The Hayabusa is priced at Rs. 13,88,329 (ex-showroom Delhi).

Suzuki started locally assembling the bike in India from March 2016. This helped the Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer to price the Hayabusa at around Rs. 2.5 lakh cheaper than the earlier model which used to be imported through the CBU route.

The Hayabusa is powered by a 1,340cc, liquid-cooled, 4-cylinder, 4-stroke engine that is reported to churn out around 194 BHP and 154 Nm of torque. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. There are also plans to introduce a supercharged version of the Hayabusa in the future.

Suzuki starts delivering locally assembled Hayabusa in India

Suzuki Motorcycles has started delivering locally-assembled Hayabusa bikes in India. The first India-made Hayabusa has recently been delivered to a customer in Delhi. The company has also revealed that more units will be delivered to customers in the coming weeks.

Suzuki had launched the locally-assembled Hayabusa in India in March this year, at a price of Rs. 13.57 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Assembling the bike locally helped the manufacturer to price it at around Rs. 2.5 lakh cheaper than the price point of the CBU model sold earlier.

The CKD assembled models of the Hayabusa in India feature the same specifications as that of the CBU models that have been sold in the country all these years. It is thus powered by a 1,340cc, liquid-cooled, 4-cylinder, 4-stroke engine that is mated to a 6-speed transmission. The combination is reported to make around 194 BHP and 154 Nm of torque. Reports also suggest that Suzuki is mulling the introduction of a supercharged version of the bike.

Locally assembled Suzuki Hayabusa priced at Rs. 13.57 lakh

Suzuki has announced that it has started assembling the Hayabusa superbike in India.

CKD kits of the Hayabusa will be imported and assembled at the same factory in Gurgaon where the entire Suzuki India two-wheeler line-up is manufactured. The specifications of the motorcycle will remain the same as the CBU (completely built up) model, which has been imported from Japan all these years.

The Suzuki Hayabusa is powered by a 1,340cc, liquid-cooled, 4-cylinder, 4-stroke engine mated to a 6-speed transmission. It has disc brakes all-round (twin front discs + a single rear disc) with ABS and rides on 17-inch wheels.

Locally assembled vehicles attract less duty when compared to direct imports. This step to start assembly of the Hayabusa from CKD kits has brought the bike's price down from Rs. 16 lakh (approximately) to Rs. 13,57,150 (ex-showroom, Delhi).
