Scoop! Next-gen Hyundai Creta spotted in India

The next generation Hyundai Creta has been caught testing in India, again. This time, the SUV was spotted on the Guindy road in Chennai.

The new spy images partially reveal the car's tail clamp cluster. It has integrated roof rails, ORVMs with turn signals and silver 5-spoke alloy wheels.

The new Creta is expected to be based on the ix25 that was unveiled earlier this year. It is likely to get a new grille flanked by trapezoidal headlamps that have L-shaped LED daytime running lights. Hyundai might offer the new model in 5-seat and 7-seat configurations.

The next generation Creta is expected to be offered with BS-VI compliant 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine options.

New images revealing the next generation Hyundai Creta's interior have surfaced online. The images appear to be taken at an assembly plant in China, where the Creta is sold as the ix25.

The car featured in the images has an all-black interior with piano black trim and silver inserts on the dashboard and centre console. It has a vertically oriented touchscreen infotainment system. The air-conditioning controls appear to be integrated into the infotainment system. It also has a 360-degree camera. 

The car has a 3-spoke, multi-function steering wheel and a digital instrument cluster, while the engine start/stop button is located on the right hand side of the gear lever. 

On the outside, the new Creta gets a redesigned cascade grille and new headlamps with L-shaped integrated LED daytime running lights. It has a dual-tone bumper with silver inserts, black plastic cladding around the wheel arches and new tail lamps. 

The next generation Creta is likely to be offered with a choice of two petrol engines and one diesel engine option. These might include a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel unit. Transmission options might include 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, 7-speed dual-clutch automatic and a CVT.

Hyundai reveals next-gen Creta's dimensions & engine options

According to a media report, the next generation Creta is likely to be larger than outgoing model. It is expected to be offered with two petrol and a diesel engine option.

The report suggests that the new Creta measures 4,300 mm in length, 1,790 mm in width, 1,622 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,610 mm. This makes it 30 mm longer and 10 mm wider than the outgoing model. Its wheelbase has also increased by 20 mm.

The new Creta is based on the ix25 that was unveiled earlier this year in China. In terms of styling, it is expected to get a new cascade grille and a new headlamp setup. It is likely to feature trapezoidal tail lights and a light bar that runs across the rear end. On the inside, the ix25 gets a redesigned interior with a vertically oriented touchscreen infotainment system and a new multi-function steering wheel.

The new Creta is expected to be offered with two petrol engines including a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally aspirated unit producing 113 BHP and 144 Nm of torque and a 1.4-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged engine making 138 BHP and 242 Nm of torque. It could also get a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that develops 113 BHP and 250 Nm of torque. While the diesel could be offered with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission, the petrol engine is expected to get 6-speed manual, 7-speed dual-clutch automatic and CVT options.

Next-gen Hyundai iX25 (Creta) spotted undisguised

The next generation Hyundai iX25 (Creta) was unveiled at Auto Shanghai 2019 earlier this month. The compact SUV has now been spotted completely undisguised on the streets of Korea.

The new iX25 features a cascade grille finished in chrome with a pair of split headlamp clusters on either side that have integrated L-shaped daytime running lights. The bumper houses a pair of fog lamps and has a silver skid plate. The SUV has blacked-out A-pillars and dual-tone alloy wheels. At the rear, the iX25 has split tail lamps that are similar in shape to the headlights. The black trim that runs across the tailgate houses the high mounted stop lamp, while the dual-tone rear bumper has a pair of reflectors and a reversing light.

In India, the next generation iX25 could be sold as the Creta. It could be launched in 2020 and is expected to be offered with BS-VI compliant 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engine options.

China: Next-gen Hyundai Creta (ix25) unveiled

Hyundai has unveiled the next generation Creta, also known as the ix25 in China at Auto Shanghai 2019.

The new Creta features a heavily revised exterior. The front end borrows design cues from the larger Palisade SUV. It has a cascade grille with a chrome frame and split headlamps with integrated LED daytime running lights. The front bumper has a skid plate finished in silver with fog lamps on either side. The car has a dual-tone roof, ORVMs with integrated turn-indicators and dual-tone alloy wheels. 

At the rear, the new Creta gets a tailgate with a roof-spoiler, trapezoidal tail lamp clusters and a horizontal black strip that runs between them. The rear stop light is housed on this strip. There is a dual-tone bumper with a silver skid plate flanked by a pair of reversing lights.

The new Creta gets dual-tone interiors, a vertically oriented touchscreen infotainment system with two air-conditioning vents on top and a 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel.

The next-generation Creta is expected to be launched in India in 2020. It could be offered with BS-VI compliant 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines.

Hyundai increases prices of the Creta

The Hyundai Creta's popularity has seen the South Korean car maker laugh all the way to the bank. Managing sales of around 7,000 units a month, the SUV was launched at a starting price of Rs. 8.59 lakh ex-showroom Delhi. It looks like Hyundai has now raised prices of every variant of the Creta, with the price increase ranging from around Rs. 10,000 - 20,000.

Given below is a comparison between the Creta's launch price (July 2015) and the price as stated on the official site as of 19th October, 2015 (a gap of around 3 months. All prices INR ex-Delhi). The difference highlights how much the prices have increased:

Hyundai to increase Creta monthly production to 7,000 units

Hyundai has sold 40,505vehicles in the month of August 2015. In the process, the company has recorded its highest-ever monthly domestic sales in India. According to Hyundai, the Creta SUV, which was recently launched has had a strong response and has received more than 40,000 bookings till the end of August.

Hyundai had planned for manufacturing about 6,000 units of the Creta every month from July to December. However, after considering the demand for the car, the company is planning to increase production by another 1,000 units from September and attempt to reduce the waiting period for the car.

According to Hyundai, the Creta is sold out till December. Even before the car was launched, the company received 15,000 bookings for it. 6,783 and 7,473 units of Creta have been sold in the months of July and August respectively.

About 12,100 vehicles are sold in the SUV segment every month.

Hyundai Creta launched at Rs. 8.59 lakh

Hyundai has launched the Creta in India at prices starting from Rs. 8.59 lakh (Ex-showroom, Delhi).

The Creta features Hyundai's Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design philosophy. It has a singular hexagonal grille with three horizontal slats, sweptback projector headlamps, skid plates at the front and rear, roof rails, black body cladding, blackened A and B-pillars, wraparound tail lamps and a roof-mounted spoiler. The vehicle measures 4,270 mm in length, 1,780 mm in width and 1,630 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,590 mm. It is available with a choice of seven body colours - Polar White, Sleek Silver, Pearl Beige, Stardust, Mystic Blue, Red Passion and Phantom Black.

On the inside, the Creta gets a dual-tone black and beige dashboard with silver accents and a multi-function steering wheel.

Features such as ABS with EBD, day/night inside rear view mirror, lane change indicator, immobiliser, foldable key and follow-me home headlamps are standard across all trim levels. The top-end trim level of the Creta features LED day-time running rights and quadrangular fog lamps, 17-inch diamond cut alloy wheels and a shark fin antenna. On the inside, the vehicle is equipped with a 7-inch Audio Video Navigation system (AVN), keyless entry and go, automatic climate control with cluster ionizer, rear air-conditioner vents, multifunction steering wheel and electric folding ORVMs. Safety features include reverse parking camera, electronic stability control, vehicle stability management and hill-start assist control.

The Automatic comes in the SX+ trim level only. The 1.6-litre petrol version is available in L, S and SX+ variants. Hyundai is giving a 3-year / unlimited km warranty on the Creta.

Hyundai Creta brochure released

Hyundai has released the brochure for the upcoming Creta crossover. The global launch of the vehicle will be held in New Delhi on July 21, 2015.

The Creta measures 4,270 mm in length, 1,780 mm in width and 1,630 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,590 mm. It has a 55-litre fuel tank.

According to the brochure, the Creta will be available with a choice of three engines:

  • 1,591, 4-cylinder, Dual VTVT petrol, 121 BHP @ 6,400 rpm, 151 Nm @ 4,850 rpm, 6-speed manual gearbox
  • 1,396cc, 4-cylinder, CRDi diesel, 89 BHP @ 4,000 rpm, 220 Nm @ 1,500-2,750 rpm, 6-speed manual gearbox
  • 1,582cc, 4-cylinder, CRDi VGT diesel, 126 BHP @ 4,000 rpm, 260 Nm @ 1,900-2,750 rpm, 6-speed manual / 6-speed automatic gearbox

The Creta comes with disc brakes at the front and drum brakes at the rear.

The Base variant gets dual tone body coloured bumpers, a silver radiator grille, front and rear skid plates, a micro roof antenna, blackened A and B pillars, body coloured rear garnish, wheel covers, black body mouldings, body-coloured door handles and ORVMs and 16-inch steel wheels shod with 205/65 R16 tyres.

The interior of the car features door scuff plates, cloth upholstery, front and rear map pockets, a 2-Din audio system with USB, Aux-in and i-Pod connectivity with 4 speakers, manual air-conditioning, rear air-conditioner vents and front centre armrest. Features include tilt steering, central locking, electric tailgate release, keyless entry, folding key, power windows, battery saver, shift indicators, adjustable front headrests, tachometer, trip meter, front power outlet, coat hooks at the rear, and a passenger-side vanity mirror.

The S variant gets front fog lamps, a rear defogger, roof rails, silver skid plates, map lamp and sunglass holder, rear parcel tray, luggage lamp, rear centre armrest with cup holders, metallic finish inside door handles, height-adjustable driver's seat, touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity and two tweeters, steering-mounted audio and Bluetooth controls, electrically adjustable ORVMs with integrated turn indicators, rear power outlet, adjustable rear headrests and luggage lamp, net and hook.

The S+ variant adds dual airbags, impact-sensing auto door unlock, audio video navigation (AVN), shark fin antenna, 16-inch alloy wheels and a steel spare wheel and a rear parking camera with guidelines and sensors.

The SX variant gets all the features of the S and adds 16-inch silver alloy wheels, dual airbags, rear parking sensors, impact-sensing auto door unlock, rear chrome garnish, projector headlamps, LED positioning lamps, static bending and a silver and chrome radiator grille. Surprisingly, it gets a micro roof antenna instead of a shark fin unit. Other features include a touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth connectivity electric folding ORVMs, auto up & down driver's window, climate control with cluster ionizer and colour change system and a rear wiper and washer.

The SX+ variant adds a rear parking camera with guidelines, AVN, shark fin antenna, starter button and chrome door handles. The automatic transmission version gets a leather-wrapped gear knob, child seat anchor and a 60:40 split rear seat.

The SX(O) variant comes with 17-inch diamond cut alloy wheels shod with 215/60 R17 tyres, side and curtain airbags, electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, hill assist control, height adjustable seat belts, speed-sensing auto door locks, chrome door handles, supervision cluster, rheostat, artificial leather upholstery and AVN with touchscreen.

The Creta will available with a choice of seven body colour - Polar White, Sleek Silver, Pearl Beige, Stardust, Mystic Blue, Red Passion and Phantom Black. The vehicle will come with a 3-year / Unlimited km warranty.

Hyundai is expected to position the Creta against the Renault Duster, Nissan Terrano and upcoming Maruti Suzuki S-Cross.
